SUMMER READING PROGRAMat theEast Central Georgia Regional Library May 23 - July 25, 2008 POLICY AND RULES FOR GROUP PARTICIPATION Groups of children are encouraged and invited to participate in the East Central Georgia Regional Library's Summer Reading Program. Preschool Groups: A teacher may record on one teaching folder books read to the class. The teacher can provide a list of the children's names when the reading folder is brought to the library. Library staff will issue the items earned (certificate, etc.) for each child. School-Age Groups: Each of these children will need a folder of his/her own. Children only receive credit for books they read and not for books read to them. The only exceptions are for children who have just completed kindergarten and for special children and adults who are reading below a first grade level; these children and adults receive credit for books they read and for books read to them. A teacher may choose to bring the folders for the entire class to the library or the children may bring their folders individually.*

information. 1. When a teacher brings in a reading folder and list of names for a preschool group or a group of folders for school-age children, library staff may request that the folder(s) be left for a day or two to give the staff more time to process them. 2. The library cannot issue blank certificates, coupons, etc. The names and ages of the children must be provided on the reading folder (school-age) or on a separate list (preschool). We also need to know which school they will attend in the new school year. The businesses that have provided coupons for free products will not honor them if the children come as a class to redeem them. Children must redeem these coupons on an individual basis. Please do not ask businesses to make an exception for your group; pressure such as this may influence whether they participate the following year. 4. Groups must be from organizations located in our five-county service area. 5. All rules of the Summer Reading Program, including deadlines, apply to groups. *When you finish your 50 books OR 15 hours, bring your reading folders back to the library to receive a rewards packet with coupons and a prize, while supplies last. Reading folders are accepted in person only and must be turned in by close of business on Friday, July 25, 2008.
ECGRL libraries welcome group visit by appointment. Please call the branch of your choice to schedule a visit! |
